Orienting Section View (drawing)

Hi,

I have created a section view (I am drawing). Everything is perfect, except the fact that the view is 180 degrees off. How do I spin it around so that it points in the same direction as the reference view?

To Flip the X-Section Arrow direction like A-A to point in opposite direction, double click view to see properties then select Sections category and hit the Flip direction icon after the Add + and Remove buttons. This will flip the Direction of viewing the section so you see background in direction of arrow.

Otherwise if your projection is being done in the wrong method or standard Third Angle American vs First Angle European projection, that is controlled by the Drawing Options file. Changing this projection option only works for views created after the change and not ones that you've already created. Easy solution is to make sure after your first projection view you are getting what's expected. Even so how hard is it to drag the view to the other side of the parent view. I'm interested to se how this affects Projection arrows like Left Top etc showing where views are projected from.

If you were referring to the Projection Angle I forgot to mention how to access it. You can either Right click outside or inside the drawing sheet -doing it outside makes it less likely you'll pick a drawing entity or view- and select Properties, Drawing Options and look for the following

projection_type || first_angle/third_angle *

Third angle projection for a letter F front view would look like 4 stacked rectangles on the view to the right hand side, whereas the same view using first angle projection would look like the single Long Rectangular face on the left side of the F.

First Versus Third Angle you probably just wanted your section arrows flipped.

I don't think it has to do with the third angle (I use first angle projections) nor the direction of the section arrows.

I have attached a very ugly illustration of the bizarre phenomena. As you can see, the section view points in the wrong direction (the holes should be lined up).

Hpon,

Let me share little idea,

1. Looking at the section arrow seems the view is not in true view,(the object is flat, no angle twist of the object from viewers eye) that's why the section result looks like that. And if case it is already a true view, you need another method to get your desired result.
2. Another method, create your section in 3d. Orient the section view you want to appear in 2d drawing and save the view. Add the view in 2d drawing. Double click the view, select the section tab. select the name of the section, done in 3d. then apply. To show the section arrow, right click the section view, and select add arrow, then select any view and the section arrow appear. Hopes these helps a little bit.

Do a redraw of your parent view, I bet it has not updated and the part has been changed. It is not possible for Pro/E do do what you have in your sketch.

If you choose the Offset option on the Section View creation menu you can define the Section line in a sketch and get better control.

The X-Section datums are probably hidden on a layer. If you can find the Plane used to create the Section you can redefine it so it hits the Cylindrical Centers on the main view.
