What is it with surveyors and misspelling the word "orifice" on surveys?

I've seen more as-built detention pond surveys with the word spelled "Oriface" than orifice.

Face? Really? Ori Face? It calls visions of some sort of Alice in Wonderland hole where a cheshire cat is staring out at me, gobbling up my stormwater with creepy eyes. Accusingly.

Ori Face.

I could make a juicy comment here, but I will restrain myself. [sadeyes]

Will somebody please congratulate me on my exceptional example of unbridled restraint?

Would like to know where a Surveyor would ever encounter an orifice.

Who is it?

Ma'am, I'm the city surveyor, here to check on your structural soundness and your orifices...

Dimwit! You're supposed to be checking the detention pond out back, and its orifices."

Thanks for the chuckles. Tomorrow can not come soon enough for me to discuss this fruit/vegetable subject with my fellow engineers at the orifice. Highway and drainage engineers have the best sense of humor.
