Orifice plate in HCl (gas) service

Hi fellow engineers,

One of our Customers is asking us to size an orifice plate for Hydrochloric acid (gas) service. Pipe size is 1/2", PN 40, upstream pressure 37 barg, upstream temperature 15°C, flow about 100 kg/h.
I found out that SS 316 is not suitable for this kind of service: do you have any suggestion with regard to the material we should use to manufacture the plate?

Hastelloy C will most probably work or a ceramic coated stainless steel.

Or solid ceramic, but be careful which one you use.

If it's truly dry HCl you'll be fine with a number of choices, Hastelloy C being a solid one as already mentioned. If it's at all wet, you'll need nonmetallics or tantalum.
