OS requirements for VB6 or VBNET

I recently saw a description of Visual Basic Net which claimed that Windows XP professional was required for full functionality.

I am using Windows XP home edition, what version of Visual Basic can I use.

Additionally, how different is C++ or C# from VB. Is the transition from visual basic an easy one?

VB6 and VB.NET should both run on XP Home. You will need the latest version of .Net framework (downloadable from MS) to get full functionality with VB.NET

C# and C++ relative to VB6? As different as chalk and cheese. There will be hard transistion to be made from VB6 to VB.NET, but you will need to start from square one with C# or C++

I would disagree about the transistion from VB6 -> VB.NET. I have found most people make the transition very well - especially if they have been writing well-structured VB6. Even if not, you could pretty much write VB6 code in VB.NET and then just go back a fix the comiler errors and it would read almost the same.
