I am currently designing the perforated aluminum panel cladding w/ 40% open area for an partially enclosed building. The panels will be fastened to vertical double angles in a patchwork pattern. Using C&C loads for Vu=144mph Exp D I can get the bending stress below allowable by using 1/4" thick aluminum (thickest panel made by vendor), however the deflection is 1" over a 39" span (L/35). I am using a 40% reduction in section modulus (open area) and a 20% reduction in pressure (half the open area). Would these panels be required to meet deflection criteria of L/240 using C&C loads or Service level loads? Thanks in advance!
