Hello everyone,

I'm doing simulation for my model by ABAQUS (a haft of cylinder with crack in the middle). The XFEM method is used in my research to achieve stress intensity factor and see the out of plane phenomenon.

In my research, a curved specimen (a haft of cylinder), using solid element, and a curved block (rigid body) are created. the surface to surface contact is applied for contact between specimen and curved block. The main purpose of curved block is keeping the radius of curved specimen do not change when the tensile load apply following radius direction.

Boundary condition:
- ENCASTRE with block
- Tensile load are applied at two tips of specimen
- XFEM method are used for crack.

Result:

Actually, i already got the result about Stress Intensity Factor but do not have any out of plane phenomenon. My supervisor said it should be have out of plane and I tried many ways again but still not have any out of plane phenomenon.

So, maybe i have to add some boundary condition more or something else? I really need some suggestion now because i have to finish my process next month. Please help me. Thank you very much.
