Outgassing data for Iridite 7p

Hi all,

I am planning to use Iridite 7p per MIL-C-5541 to coat my copper waveguide. The issue is that those waveguides have to go in a thermal vacuum chamber so the outgassing of the coating must be low.

Does anyone know if that coating has already been used for a space application and where I could find some outgassing data (I went to the NASA website but nothing is there).

At least could someone explain me why this coating (Iridite 7p) used on copper refers to MIL-C-5541, which is applicable/written for Aluminium alloys?

I am not sure about your question, but confirm the environment of your application as iridite will actually flake off as a powder if exposed the the correct conditions (temp, etc) in space. We generally do not use iridite for space applications and in fact some customer specifically do NOT want iridite. We use silver, nickel or gold plating or some combination thereof.
 
Why are you using iridite in the first place? It's not a terribly good conductor. In fact, we iridited a chassis one and had to grind off the iridite to get good electrical bonding.

Iridite provided corrosion resistence, and Class 3 is electrically conductive.
