Over the Ridge Drift

I am looking for some input as to whether standard snow drift needs to be applied in combination with over the ridge drift.

The example I am thinking of would have two buildings attached end to end at the gables with one of them being taller than the other. In this scenario it would be possible to have over the ridge drift accumulate on one side of both buildings. Then when the wind shifts directions the taller building would drift down onto the lower building increasing the drift load even more.

Is this too conservative? I was not able to find anything referring to this situtation in either ASCE or IBC.

Thanks in advance for your input.
