Overall Dimensions appear in Modleing

Using NX 9

Attached is a picture of what I am going to try and describe: In NX 9 I imported a File that was created in NX 6 to be reused. The orange block shown in the picture needs to be modified. It has a rectangular pocket in it. I modified the pocket dimensions by using expressions, to define a set depth. When I select the orange block for the reference dimension desired, the overall dimensions of the block appear (dimensions shown in white).
Question: how do you turn these off?

Why do you want to turn them off? They're not permanent and they do have a very useful purpose.

What NX is doing is that since your "orange block" was created parametrically, either as a 'Block' or an 'Extrude' feature, it contains dimensions (parameters) for the length, width and height. What's happening is that when you selected the "orange block" as a 'Reference' feature, from which you can select any of it's parameters, in the past you were only given a list of the expressions associated with the selected feature. However, NX is now also displaying any of these 'parameters', when possible, as dimensions on the screen for two reasons. First off, you can select any of those dimensions as your 'Reference' parameter, and second, since they're displayed relative to the feature you know exactly which parameter represents what aspect of the selected feature. That's a lot easier to figure out then looking ONLY at a list of expressions, which is still available if you happen to know the name of the expression or you would prefer to work that way, but you'll also notice that IF you do select one the expressions from the list, it'll also highlight the relevant dimension on the selected feature, again to help assure you that you've selected the correct parameter. And as I alluded to earlier, as soon as you're done with, in this case, the Pocket function, the temporary dimensions go away.

But to answer your question directly, NO, there is no way to turn them off since they are now an integral part of the 'Reference Feature Parameters' function.

SDETERS: Yes a simple refresh "removes" them from the screen. Did not know this. Now I do.

Mr. Baker: Simple answer, not use to seeing them. Having just switched from NX6 to NX9 things are different and things are the same. So, seeing them for the first time, threw me off. But now that I have seen them and experimented a little, along with your explanation, I will be able to see just how useful they can be.
