hi all !
i am required to design a supporting system for an overhead travelling crane of safe working load of 25 tonnes, clear span of 25m and a length of 50m. Does anyone know any useful information on this ..
any help will be greatly appreciated

Each manufacturer will give you his loads for the crane you need.

For example: From "Crane Handbook" by Whiting Corporation for crane 25 tons with 25m (80ft) between rails:
Max Weel Load = 240 kNa (54000 lbs)
Trolley Weight = 50 kNa (11500 lbs)
Total Crane Weight = 320 kNa (70500 lbs)
Weel spacing = 3.8 m (12.5 ft)

After you get info from crane manufacturer, you may use AISC Design Guide Series No. 7 (Pub. No. D807), which has very good chapters on Crane Runway Girder Design and Column with crane load Design.
