Hello,
I've read that p-channel IGBTs can be made but have never seen one.Is there a reason why only n-channel types are around?

As far as I remember, some of the Japanese manufacturers had complementary sets of IGBTs specifically for audio power amplifiers. No big succes, though.

Benta.

A typical application for IGBT's is a low-side switch for inductive flyback (think creating the spark in your engine). Therefore, a N-channel is required....

I have found P channels but they are more expensive than the N channels so i just used a bit of extra glue to flop my signal and use the N type for what i needed.

Luck is a difficult thing to verify and therefore should be tested often. - Me
