How do I change 'show dimensions' to show the name of the value in addition to the value of features? (NX7.5)

Thanks,
KLINE

Are we talking about while in a Sketch?

If so, go to...

Preferences -> Sketch -> Sketch Style

...and look at the 'Dimension Label' options.

Be aware though that the new 'Auto Dimension' being created as you add curves to your sketch, these will never have 'p' number associated to them since they are NOT linked to any expressions. Only the dimensions you create manually, or after you've edited on the 'Auto Dims' will a Sketch dimension even have a 'p' number to display.

Good afternoon John, I am referring to the 'show dimensions' of features. (Right-Click on feature, 'show dimensions'.) Is it possible to show the expression name here?

Thanks, (And sorry for delay, I was off playing in the snow.)

If you double-click on any one of the displayed dimensions a dialog will open which will show you the expression for this and all the other 'dimensions' displayed. This is the best that you're going to be able to do since this 'Show Dimension' function is actually part of a PMI function for making it easier to create PMI dimensions directly from the feature parameters of an existing feature. And while you can temporarily display and edit the 'dimensions' of a feature using this option, the dimensions can be converted into permanent PMI dimensions only if the PMI module had been enabled before you invoked this option. the 'Show Dimension' option was never intended to be a replacement for showing Sketch Dimensions using the various display options which are only available while inside the Sketch task. This is actually part of the functionality intended to help dimension a model for documentation purposes, such as for a drawing or using PMI, to document the 3D model itself.
