Hi,

How could I move in the Page Navigator, the sheets of the drawing in numerical order, from PAGE 1 to PAGE 15 ?

Thanks

Currently, the order of the drawing sheets, as presented in the Part Navigator, is based on the order in which they were originally created, NOT on some sorting scheme using user-defined names or such.

Thanks,
So, there's no way to reverse in the Part Navigator the order in which they were originally created, is there?........

Thanks!

At the moment, the only procedure available to you is to 'Copy & Paste' the views/annotations from one sheet to another creating the necessary order manually and then deleting the old sheets and finally giving them names which now correspond to the desired naming scheme.

Good idea!
Thanks a lot!

P.S. (It should have crossed my mind!..................)

Patrick,
Thanks a lot for your answer. It proved to be very accurate!
Another question for you: My inquiry has been published on the You answer was sent at Simens Comunity, not here. It would have brought you a recognition star! Why didn’t you place your answer over here?

There is a simple procedure - as long as all of the text on the field of drawing is associated to a view, move the views to a different sheet. If the required sheet is already populated, move those views to a new "scratch" sheet until their appropriate sheet is empty. Delete the extra sheet when you have the sheet order you need.

Basically what John said...[blush]

I think this issue is fixed in NX8, but as noted before, the thread is about 7.5

Yes, there is an enhancement in NX 8.0 which provides the user with more control over the 'Numbering' (not to be confused with the 'Naming') of Drawing sheets. If left as is and if you never RENAME a drawing sheet then the sheet 'numbering' will be as it is now, based on the order in which the sheets were originally created.

However, if you do rename your Drawing sheets as part of a need to insert additional sheets or remove existing sheets, which result in the final order being different than the actual creation order, you can now manually edit the Sheet 'Numbers' so that they will once again be in the same order as the Part Navigator list, or conform to whatever scheme you desire. In other words, the user now has independent control over what the Sheet 'Numbers' are irrespective of order of creation, or for that matter, the naming sequence. Just so that we're all clear here, when we say 'Sheet Number', we're talking about notations such as 'SHEET X of Y' or 'SHEET X/Y' or whatever using the existing Automatic Drawing Text routines.

In addition to these new capabilities (added to the Edit Sheet dialog) you can now include a 'column' in the Part Navigator which will indicate the Sheet Numbers as well as a column for the new Sheet Revision option (a topic for another day and another time).

Now the one issue which is still not resolved in an automated manner is what happens when the NAMES of Drawing Sheets are bumped from single to double digits, as in 'SHEET 1' to 'SHEET 10' when 9 additional Drawing sheets are created. Since the list of Drawing Sheets in the Part Navigator depends on a lexical sorting scheme, 'SHEET 10' comes after 'SHEET 1' but before 'SHEET 2'. In this situation (where there are 10 or more Drawing Sheets), users will still need to manually edit the Drawing Sheet names to something like 'SHEET 01', 'SHEET 02', etc.

Anyway, the good news is that the changes made in NX 8.0, as outlined above, should resolve most all of the outstanding issues with getting proper Sheet Numbers without having to do a lot of Drawing Sheet creation, Cutting & Pasting views and then deleting of now old empty Drawing Sheets.

Toost was right, the issue was related to NX7.5.
Both comments were usefull, thanks again for your time and consideration of my thread!

I cannot beleive we all the way up to NX 8.0 before this was addressed. Glad it's finally being looked into though. Still on 7.5.4 here probably will be for at least another year unfortunatly before we upgrade. But I'm coming across a slew of prints that I need to either delete or insert sheets and it just blows the numbering all out of the water. There should be an auto update numbering system (should've actually been put in way back in NX1 or before really, this just seems like a no brainer automatic thing) So now if I move sheet 9 to be behind sheet 30 (for whatever reason the powers that be see fit this needed to happen) every sheet in between is now a manual number update. Talk about a huge waste of time to have to go in there and re- number everything. You would think there would be an easier way.
