Starting to dabble in palettes. I started with the ones supplied with NX and have edited them to reflect our 'seed' parts.

I click on the seed model file, it brings it up as it should. With the drawing palettes, I click on the size I want, but it names it what the model file is with a dwg in it.

Is there a way to have it save to our naming scheme or would that involve just a save as?

Also any documentation on palettes in general? Would like to learn more about them so I can streamline some of the teadious things we do.

Thank you

You need to start with an empty file and add your model as a component if you want a separate drawing file.

Selecting a drawing size from the palette simply adds a drawing to your work file.

When you go to save the drawing, the system is going to automatically ask you for a new name anyway, even if you use the normal Save instead of a Save As.

fgbrender, if I select a drawing in the palette, it adds the current work part (seed model file) to that drawing as a component.

But currently it is such a pain to use palettes in Unix, just because of the windowing system and where the palette icons are. I don't want to keep moving the border up and down just to select the palette.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were referring to the new drawing dialog.

What Mr. Baker stated is true, when you save the file for the first time you will be prompted for a new filename and you can name it per your requirements.

As for the pain in UNIX, I'm not familiar with it because we switched to Windows before the palettes were around.
