what does PAN means on a heat exchanger assy?

it's a good answer, I know whats the function of a pan, but my real cuestion is.
do some one know what's the word PAN means?

PAN = A prefix used before a radio transmission to indicate that the message is urgent.

EAXMPLE:

"PAN, PAN, PAN... aircraft XYZ has an urgent weather situation: need heading guidance to vector around storm front."

NOTE.
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY..." is a universal prefix used in radio transmission to indicate that a genuine emergency situation exists.

Perhaps the OP should post the EXACT reference and context of what they're asking about. Otherwise, he will continued to get bashed for what appears to be 4th grade question.
