Paper Stacker? 1

I need to get a quote for a device that would neatly stack sheets of paper as they're fed off of a belt, then when the stack reaches a certain height and/or weight,the stack would be automatically moved onto a pallet which would be taken away to be shrink wrapped.

I don't know where to start? Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Check the on-line buyers' guides for Paper, Film, and Foil Converter magazine or Convertring magazine. Sheeters are the equipment that have stackers.

Can't you use a sloping dead plate for stacking the paper? The dead plate should slope down towards the conveyor.

Forgive my ignorance, but could you please give me some detail on exactly how that would work, with the sloping dead plate?

Thanks for posting the sketches. Am I understanding this correctly that these represent 2 different approaches? In #1, it looks like the the purpose of the dead plate is to raise the paper up slightly before entering the collecting tray so that it lays flat on the tray, correct?

On #2, it looks like the rollers help to move the sheet into place instead of falling as it leaves the belt, correct?

I'm also working through how to keep the collecting tray at or near the height of the conveyer belt. 2 approaches would be: 1. have the collecting tray be weight sensitive so that as paper sheets are added the tray automatically lowers itself to keep it at the correct height 2. Have an eye that tracks how many sheets are being added and have the height of the tray controlled by that.

The other question is how to move the stack of paper from the collecting tray onto a pallet. My thought was to have rollers on the bottom and a hydraulicly driven arm on the side of the tray closest to the conveyer pushing the finished stack onto the pallet.

Any additional thoughts on these ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked with printing machinery suppliers? Seems to me I've seen something like what you describe at a label printing operation. Wine labels, IIRC. Go figure!
