Hi Jaykay,

You have a lot of sources on the Web. Look for using the following key words: reduction paperwork management documents PDM

1. Using a PDM system and the EAI approach it is possible to reducing the
amount of paperwork and of traditional documents.
PDM = Product Data Management is an essential component of IT
EAI = Enterprise Application Integration to combining in a whole all the applications
and to making them Internet compatible.
Note: ERP = PDM + EAI + others
There are a lot of PDM Software in the market.
See: Pay close atn to the standard used in creating the interchangeble files!!

2. Intersting to know the Paperwork Reduction Solution proposed by Adobe's ePaper Solutions that has been adopted as standard (you surely known PDF format), in a lot of industrial and U.S government agencies, characterized by:
- scanner to convert volumes of departmental paper documents into searchable Adobe PDF files.
- accurate OCR, advanced page and content recognition, as well as powerful clean-up tools efficiently transform paper-based information into high-quality electronic documents ready for publication on the Web, intra- and extranets, CD-ROMs, and more.
- automatic generation of hyperlinks and bookmarks makes navigation of long documents easy.
Moreover, Adobe software-combined with a scanner or digital copier-transforms paper documents into searchable Adobe PDF files and delivers them immediately via e-mail, Web, fax, and more.
You can send contracts, forms, color pamphlets, and other documents with handwritten notes or signatures...and keep a searchable copy for your own archives too.

3. A very big source of informatrions is the U.S. federal government through its "Paper Elimination Act" passed by the United States Congress in 1998, based on:
- use of alternative information technologies that allow electronic submission, maintenance, or disclosure of information as a substitute for paper.- strong focus on electronic forms
- accepting electronic signatures
- use of a common standard (over 155 government agencies have adopted it.
- any type of document that exist only in paper form can be converted to this standard
- files can be distributed economically and efficiently by e-mail, CD-ROM, intra- or extranet Web sites
- security options to preventing documents from being altered, copied, or even printed, as needed
- digital signatures speed and simplify approval processes and the submission of forms.
- less paper and less inefficiency
- accessibility of documents to everyone.

Hoping to have helped you.
