I have two parallel surfaces. One surface is Datum A, the other surface is specified to be parallel to Datum A within 0.001 inches. Is it true that both faces are also guaranteed to be flat within 0.001 inches or do I need to specify flatness separately? See attached picture.

Thanks,
Ryan

Top face will be parallel to -A- within .001, and hence flat to .001

You have no flatness indicated for the surface indicated -A-. -A- is simplistically derived from the 3 high points of the corresponding surface.

Almost the same question was recently asked over in the GD&T forum recently.

That is a better forum for this type of question.
