Greetings

I am using WF2 and am trying to figure out how to use the export file that can be create in the paramter "construction"box. My intention is to change parameter assignments in parts I used a "temporary" start part in a new assignment untill I got drawing and start part formats correct for this new customer. I want to up date the 40 or so parts I have completed to this point to the new parameter file with out manually doing this by deleting the old and typing the new individually.

TIA

bring your parameters in as relations , then after running the check relations... you can delete them.. you can mapkey the whole thing

I am not much of an administrator of this type when I use pro/E, however I think your solution is what I need.

I have copied your mapkey to my config file and then run it and it did not work. I am curious about this statement in your reply and would like further detailed information as a rookie trying to understand and accomplish this.

format of file to read in for parameters;

my_ans=yes come in as yes/no
my_str="string" string
my_val=5 real number

What do I do with this information?

ok I did figure out the relations thing that you wanted to add but it only added things to th bottom of the parameter page and nothing to do with my needed paramters

Are you wanting to add a bunch of new parameters to existing models? without wanting to type them in the parameters UI

Depending on you format set up where you are working it may be easier to create a table with all the parameters you need to change and instead of modifying the parameters in the relations or parameters UI you can right or double click on the parameter value in the table in the drawing and this value is auto linked to the parameter.

Just make sure you have the right part active when you insert the table and that all the parameters are there.

If you do add the table to a drawing where the parameters have not been added to the part it will prompt you for parameter info but it will not create them in the part.

On any drawing create a table then double click and enter the &PARAMETER_NAME and then select the table and choose

Table > Save Table > As Table File
Table > Insert Table > From File

I am wanting to replace the existing parameter ile with the newly created one.

There different types of params... and the thru the relations way will give you real,strings and yes/no.

The method I'm talking about will only add params... I think you will have to manually delete any existing ones if you don't want them anymore
