parameterization problem

Hello,
I have tried to model and parameterize a simple four joint mechanism. Of course I can manipulate with point positions by entering different values in table editor. But when it comes to parameterization of links (markers) it doesn't work like that.

I have set link's lengths as design variables. But when I change position of the point link is attached to, then links are separated. I have tried to parameterize markers positions with LOC_RELATIVE_TO function, but ADAMS says it won't work.

You are expecting ADAMS to read your mind. At least up to v2005r2 it can't read minds.

All ADAMS sees is someone trying to join two solid bodies with a joint via non coincident markers, and it doesn't like that.

I wouldn't use the GUI for this, I'd write my models direct in a .adm file.

Hmmm.. To be honest I am not familiar with other ways of working with adams than just via GUI. But it is weird for me that I can't relate one marker to the other. It should be simple (like with marker-point relation). It has to be possible. Simple command: marker of this body has the same position as marker of that body.
Can someone please help me with that?

Or if there's really not an option to do that with a use of GUI, where can I learn to write .adm files?
 
export your model as a .adm, read it, and dissassemble it with the help of the Solver help manual.

Now, I'm not saying you can't do what you are trying to do inside the GUI, but what you need to do is add enough intelligence to your parametisation method that it creates valid mechanisms. For a start I suspect you need to parametise the locations of /points/ and then assemble your model onto them, rather than moving markers around.

Might be worth asking on the support forums.
