Parametric Modeling- 1

Would some be so helpful as to explain the
definition of the term "Parametric Modeling"?
Is it similar in nature to what is referred to in
catia V5 as "Knowledge Based Engineering", or
is this totally different?

Thank you (in advance) for explaining one of those
irritating little things that many people have trouble
picking up by inference and has trouble asking ones
co workers.

not exactly.

parametric modeling means the ability to modity the model using parameters, which is the ability to modify a sketch whihc drives a pad, or any other feature.

knowledge based design is the more advanced version, but it's basically the same.

the low-end cad apps are not parametric - once you make a line and use it to extrude something, you can't modify the line.
