pardon me for raising issue related to ASTM 1

Dear experts,

I beg your pardon for raising issue related to ASTM in this ASME Forum.
But this is the only forum i know, where i get swift & accurate guidelines.

ASME standards give the chemical & mechanical properties in the same standard. e.g. for SA 479 Gr 304 L,we will get chemical & mechanical properties in SA 479 only. We need not to see any other standard.
But I am facing the problem with ASTM.
e.g. for ASTM A 295 grade 52100, we get only chemical composition. But unable to find which ASTM standard is to be referred for knowing the mechanical properties.

please provide the guidance.

ASTM A295 is a "Standard Specification for High-Carbon Anti-Friction Bearing Steel"

Mechanical properties of bearing are not significant as compared to other properties in designing anti-friction bearings.

If these properties are somehow important to you, you can add these requirements as part to the Supplemental Requirements section of your purchase specification

Alloys like 52100 are used for a special purpose, and are not bought heat treated to the final properties.
Everyone that I know that makes bearings has their own proprietary HT process and hardness ranges.
This would be similar for most tool steels.
