I'm working on a model that is first a casting, then later gets machined to fit tolerance. I'd like to be able to include the geometry for both the casting and machining in a single saved model, with the details for either phase of the part displayed on different sheets in the drawing.
I've been trying to use group as a way to collect the different stages of the geometry. This seemed like the only way to get the configuration feel I was used to with solidworks. I tried then taking these groups and assigning them to different layers to be displayed indepentently on the drawing sheets. But UG won't allow me to assign a layer to the groups I created and if I apply a new layer to any one feature of the part it reassigns it to every feature of the part.
Does any one have an idea of how to "save states" of the model during the process so you can view the model at different stages of development? Any info on this would be most appreciated.
