Part Families 1

On NX 2, I am trying to teach myself the part family tool and was wondering if the is a parameter that allows you the change a feature. For example, length or diameter without listing every possibility in the spredsheet. UG help and cast are somewhat lacking in this area.

In the part family dialogue, the top lists all available parameters in your model. Select them and "add column" to the bottom list to add just the ones you want to control from the spreadsheet.

I should of posted an example like this. I have a bushing. It is CAT No. P-32-16. It is 1.00in long and had an O.D. of .500in. The range for the I.D. is .1875in-.3160in. My question is do i have to list each possible I.D. in the spredsheet or can the user enter a value in the part family menu?

You might try the Deformable Part function, I think you can define a range for a user to input. I've had some success with it but it's buggy and may take some "fiddling" to get it to work. I'm on NX2 though so maybe Nx3 handles it better.

Deformable parts is not suited for this application unless all parts have the same part number. It would also require a curve in each assmbly to drive the chnaged ID.

Family tables end up creating each individual part when they are processed. You will neeed a line for each ID in your table.
