Hi,

I am using NX6 & am working with a part family. I can create an assembly & add part family members to it, which will create a part representing the family member.

Is there a way to quickly create all part family members defined in the part family table?

It doesn't seem practical to use the above method to do so with large part families, as multi-select does not seem available when adding components.

Thanks,
Dan

Yes, open the Part Family master template file. Go to...

Tools -> Part Families...

...and before selecting 'Edit' to open the spreadsheet, enter into the area labeled 'Family Save Directory' the location of where you would like to save all of the part family members which will be created. Now select the 'Edit' button to open the Part Family spreadsheet.

Using your cursor, select all of the rows (part family items) which you wish to create as individual parts (select first row, then shift-select the last row).

Now with the rows still selected, expand the Excel menu item labeled 'Add-Ins' and select 'Create Parts'.

All of the selected parts will now be created and saved in the folder you designated earlier. Once this operation is done, either select 'Resume' or 'Cancel' on the Part Family dialog to return control back to NX.

There, now that wasn't all that hard was it?
