Looking for a way to set the material type in the part file (e.g. Stainless Steel 304) and then when I create the drawing have it inserted automatically in a field in my template.

Thanks
DG

2 possible ways to do this:

1.) have a note in your template directly reference a custom property from your model. When you insert a custom property, there is a set of radio buttons that allow you to choose between properties in the drawing and properties in the model specified in the drawing view.

2.) have a note in your template refer to a custom property in you drawing. Have the drawing's custom property refer to the material custom property in your model. This is done by entering $PRPSHEET:"model property name" as the value for your drawing property.

Thanks a lot.
Works great. Still learning daily.

You the man Tick.
At least I think so, Tick really isn't gender specific is it. :)

Thanks again,
DG

Tick is a husband, father, dog-owner, and, by most measures both biological and metaphorical, a man.

And as I see a fan of Tull, Rush and a few other great rockers.
