Hi all,

In NX assembly, I renamed one component by replacing it. Steps I followed as described below:

1. Right click on part need to be renamed in Assembly Navigator, Close > Part.
2. Rename the component in folder.
3. Right click on closed part in Assembly Navigator > Replace Component > Select renamed part > OK.

Part gets replaced, assembly navigator shows new part name. But when I move mouse over that component in graphic window, Quick Pick shows the older part name.

It creates some confusion for others who use quick pick for reviewing and all. Please suggest a solution for this problem.

I have attached a screen shot in which Part#5083 shows Part#5089 in Quick pick window.

Thanks in advance.

Look at the part properties & check the name (see image).

Hi Galante.

[smile]

In properties it shows old name. Is there anyway to keep that updated as we rename components by replacing? Or am I using a wrong method to rename child parts in NX assembly? I am using NX 9.0.2

Regards,
Nithin

That name is stored in the assembly, not in the component part file.
The best way to do what you want is to make the part you want to change the name of the Work Part and then Save As.
This will then rename the component on disk as well as make the Assembly (as long as it is then saved) aware of the new component name.
