parting lines

how do you detrimine whre the parting line will be on a plastice injection molded part?

The PL needs to go where the mold can draw away from the part without making the part deflect or be damaged. Most designers do this lmost automatically.
If you have a part where this is not too obvious, why not post a drawing of it and let us comment on it?
 
Basicaly by common sense, considering a few factors such as:-
Try not to put it in an area of asthetic importance.
It should be in a location so that there are no undercuts as the mould opens.
It should be in a location that allows the part to stay on the moveing half as the mould opens, but still allows ejection from the moving half once the mould is opened

thanks I am realitively new to plastics design although I have been in many other areas of design such as sheet metal structures, assembly tooling and welding. do you know any good info site on the net I could go to that would help?
