partitioning a hollow tube as a cell

Hi:

While I was attempting to partition a hollow tube using cell option and datum plane in abaqus 6.11, this message is appeared "there are no geometric cells to be partitioned" even though I tries to select the the tube. Can any professional tell me what is the error and how can avoid it?
