Parts getting suppressed ALL config AND all models

SW2011 sp0, Win7 64x, Quadro FX3500, clean install:

I do a lot of exploded view drawings and other graphics for instructions. So I create several configurations of a model, suppress the stuff I don't need to see and create various exploded views.

What I am experiencing is that if a part is "suppressed this configuration" it still gets suppressed in all configurations. What's even weirder, is that if I open up a different model that also uses the same part, the part is suppressed in that model too.

It's as though 2011 is saving the suppression state in the Part-level file instead of the assembly file where it was suppressed. I don't know if this is a glitch (2011 has been very buggy for me) or whether I am overlooking a setting somewhere.

On a possibly related note, I have also experienced the problem someone else reported where suppressing an entire sub-assembly would result in the sub-assembly to suddenly reappear unless I suppressed all of the individual parts inside the sub-assembly...and that includes parts within sub-sub-assemblies.

Weird. That's definitely not a system options setting.

How clean was you clean install?

Was the A/V disabled?

Probably not related, but did you upgrade the graphics driver?

You could try an update to SP2 or run a repair. If that doesn't work get your VAR involved.

There is a setting under the Configuration Properties about "Suppress New features and mates", there is also an option "Suppression of New Components". Make sure this is set appropriately.

Try turning off Large Assembly Mode under system options.

I was having a problem with suppressed parts appearing in an assembly despite being listed as suppressed in the design table - doing this solved the problem.

When you are suppressing parts, pay attention to where the part comes from!

Code:
Top Level Assembly

  Component A
  Component B

  Sub-Assy 1
    Component 1
    Component 2

  Sub-Assy 2
    Component 3
    Component 4
Pay attention to where things are nested:

Suppressing Component A, or B will only hide them in the Top Level Assembly.
Suppressing Component 1, 2, 3, or 4 will hide them in the Sub-Assembly. So if this Sub-Assembly is used in another Top Level Assembly (or even if you open just the Sub), the components will be hidden.

You can avoid this by becoming a wizard with configurations. Good luck.

Being a CAD administrator for a while at a company that uses very large assemblies, I will put $20 on dedevo response(above post) as your problem.

In the above example, you can only suppress Component A, Component B, Sub-Assy 1, and Sub-Assy 2.

If you want to suppress parts in sub-assemblies you have to make configurations in each sub-assembly and use that configuration in corresponding main assembly configuration.
