Befuddled

Hi All,

I have created a parts list in a large assembly drawing.

The parts list its-self is from a template i have created and reads part attributes to populate fields:-

'SUPPLIER, PART NUMBER, DESCRIPTION'

With some auto generated 'system' fields for 'ITEM No & QTY'.

I have one fields which i need to manually populate with the zone / grid reference of where the item can be found in the drawing. When i populate this field, the items in the parts list re-order themselves. Is there a setting somewhere to turn this behavior off?

ps. NX11

Thanks in advance & Cheers

I think i have cracked it!

In the part list template part, i selected the 'zone' column, then in the 'settings' > Columns > Behavior... ensure that 'Key Field' is not selected.

Cheers,

This should not be the reason.
A key field works such that if there are multiple different values on the same item , it will get different lines.
I think the following example will clarify:
Imagine a parts list för a car assembly .
the front wheels are the same article but the placement= description are "left front and "right front".
The parts list header:
item no | qty | part number | description

If the "description" column is a key field you will get two lines:

item no | qty | part number | description
1 | 1 | 12345 | Left front
2 | 1 | 12345 | right front

If the description column isn't a key field you will get one line:

item no | qty | part number | description
1 | 2 | 12345 | ...

where the "..." indicates "this cell contains multiple values".

The solution you probably should look at is "Right click - Sort"
This dialog sets the sort order / columns to sort on of the parts list.
probably the zone column should not be used for sorting ?

Regards,
Tomas
