When i try to change the text in a cell in a parts list the text i always enclosed in brackets. The 'highlight manual text' option is disabled. The text becomes enclosed both after manual edit and if i change the object attribute.

I tried on another computer and the brackets are no longer there when i change what object attribute i want to display.

Now i have another problem instead. Originally i wanted to display the material used to manufacture the part in the parts list. Two different parts manufactured by same material should show up as two different rows in the parts list but now i only get one row with quantity 2.

Make sure that the Material column is NOT a 'Key Field'. Generally speaking you only need one column to be designated as a 'Key Field' and that should that which makes the entries unique, which is usually the 'Part Name'.

To see if a column is set as a 'Key Field' or not, select the column in the Parts List (not the Part List itself, JUST the column that you're interested in, which will highlight if you allow the cursor to hover over one of the four corners of the column), press MB3, select 'Style' and check the 'Key Field' entry on the tab labeled 'Columns'. You need to have at least ONE 'Key Field', and as I've already stated, it's generally the column containing the list of the Component 'Part Names'.

Actually im back on my brackets problem. Sometimes i would like to add text to a single cell in the parts list. Adding is no problem but the brackets i would like to get rid of. Is it possible?

I just realized that i needed to turn of 'highlight manual text' by righclicking the border of the parts list and go to 'style'. I tried to disable it by Preferences->Annotation->Parts Lists.
