I am using acetone to remove cutting oils from machined steel parts for powder coating; this works well.
A planned process change would involve preparing parts
that are wet(water)for powder coating.

If these wet parts are washed in acetone; once the
acetone evaporates would the water be removed resulting in
dry parts?

Using acetone for a process such as this is quite hazardous due to the flammability and toxicity of acetone.

To answer your question the parts would be dry and clean if you are using clean water. If you have need to do this on a continual basis look at some other process, vapor degreasing. or using an liquid cleaner and drying oven.

I would suggest using an "Ardrox" degreaser (Hot). About 140F if possible. A 10% Gardeoclean, and 90% DI water. This should remove all grease needed to come off. Rinse down with hot water and the parts should come dry and clean fairly quickly.

Contact the coating manufacturer for the best recommendation.

..bimr is of course right.

In addition: some powder coatings, for instance electrostatic epoxy powder coating on (magnetic) steel surfaces, require pre-heating to about 200deg.C

..eg, possible that heating to some degree in a drying process actually may improve coating process. Again: coating producer to answer.
