Patent databases on the net

Im working on an idea that i think might be worthy of a patent. Resently i visited a web page where you could review existing patent (not the official US patent bureua pages that i find fustratingly difficult to navigate). You could buy the full patent text but an abstract was free. Anybody got a lead or maybe a site that they can recommend?

(not only US but in english)
