Hello all,

is it possible to use patterned plates in NX Sheet metal? From time to time we have to design and produce simple covers from sheet metal (see attached pic). Usually we use patterned metal according DIN 59220 (chequer and tear patterns). Till now we just make a note in drafting. But some customers asked us to show pattern in our drawings. So is it possible to do basic sheet metal operations with NX sheet metal using patterned plate?
Thanks.

There is no support for this as a sheet metal 'material' assignment, but you could model the 'pattern' as either 2D wireframe profiles laying on the surface of the faces of the model or as actual 3D features. While, with some effort, this sort of thing can be done in NX 7.0, starting with NX 8.5 it will be much easier since the raised features could be added to actual sheet metal parts and when flattended the patterm will be carried over. This was not possible prior to NX 8.5.
