Patterning a point using surface percentage increments?

Hello All,

I was wondering if it's possible to pattern or transform points or other entities along a surface by U or V percentage increments.

I'm working on preparing a UG model for analysis in Patran and would like to be able to visualize my surface as a grid with edit display and then pattern points for grid references to be used in Patran. is there an easy way to do this or is it possible to create 10 splines evenly spaced between surface edges.

You can display a grid on the U V axes by going to edit->object display and changing the grid U count and grid V count parameters. This would be similar to the 'splines evenly spaced between surface edges' that you describe. Also, you may want to have a look at the offset in face command. I've only used this command a handful of times (with mixed results) so the help file will describe it better than I could here.

Thanks Cowski I'll try the offset in face command and see if I can find any info using CAST.

I had done the edit display to get the lines on the surface but this option only separates the surface in an x,y manner and the lines cannot be snapped too. Maybe a future enhancement with a grid snap on a surface like some free form CAD systems have.

Anyway I found a good method for exporting the display grid.
There is an option to create a Point Set using the Points on Face option which allows you to specify number of points in U & V direction as well as the start and finish U,V percentage value.
