Pavement Depth vs Aggregate

Hi,

Hopefully I am in the right area.

Recently I received a Pavement Design with a total depth of about 600mm.

There is a SAMI seal below the wearing course which asks for 10mm S25E and AMC00 prime below that.

However the allowable depth is only 5mm, so I wanted to ask is it common practice 10mm aggregate can become 5mm depth?

It might help if you showed the column headings. Are you sure 5mm isn't the maximum aggregate size, not the lift thickness? For example, we will use a 40mm (thickness) top course of 12.5mm (aggregate size) HMA mix.

5mm is the actual allowable thickness of the pavement.

If 5mm limit to thickness, this is likely microsurfacing....a surface treatment to protect the underlying structural section.
