Hi All,

First, i want to say thanks in advance for any potential assistance I may receive from this site! Being that i only just graduated with a degree in i/o psychology -- having this engineering think-tank seems to be a great asset!

The past few months of my IE position has been full of cost-benefit analyses/payroll cost analyses. However, I was kind of wondering if the one report i am working on currently was correct. (If anyone wants to take a peak at my super interesting Distribution Center process change analysis - pls let me know! :).

Secondly, is there a way to quantify safety issues? Besides saying, "a claim could cost us $16k". What is the probability of a claim being filed? Is that something one could predict/run stats to figure out?

To elaborate, our stores are requesting our Distribution Center to retool our processes in an effort to improve sales. Unfortunately, we at the DC feel (for many reasons) this is a bad idea productivity-wise, but also for safety concerns. If only i could quantify this????

I truly appreciate any help !! Thank you !

Sincerely,
L

Lilunia,
When I had a question similar to yours I went to our disability insurance carrier. They can provide probabilities for all kinds of injuries and costs associated. The most likely injury in the area was a back injury. They provided me with costs for various degrees of injury as well as the relative frequency of each. They also provided a history of our claims compared to industry averages.
Since I was looking for statistics and not cases they were most helpful.
