Hi,
I am purchasing new pc's for my AutoCAD Map3D 2006 users. They will probably use Map3D 2007 this year. Listed below are some of the specs I am looking at and will be running XP pro for the OS. Hopefully Vista in late 2007. Do you think this will run Map3D great or just average? The users have complained in the past that map regeneration takes too long with large files. I appreciate your thoughts!

I would go for the nVidia FX-3500, it's a newer card and the same price, and is probably better if you upgrade to Vista. I use the FX-3500, and have had no problems.

There may be an advantage to increasing RAM... not sure what Map3D works best with. My son's gaming system uses dual nvidia cards (SLI) and for graphics stuff... PC's set up for gaming are likely best for graphics intensive stuff.

I was talking to my other son... and he says it's not a bad card, but a bit low end for real gaming. For maximum graphics useage, he said you should be looking at about $800 or so for a good graphics card ($CAN). I have no idea if there's a 'try before you buy' scheme for graphics cards...
