A recent project involves a PD pump pumping liquids to multiple locations, and individual flows to the locations are supposed to be evenly distributed. To evenly distribute the flow, control valves are installed on individual lines, and the pump is equiped with VFD on discharge pressure control.

We know that PD pump discharge is not supposed to be on throttling control. Is there any issue with the above control scheme? Thanks.

you will still need a system that takes the pump discharge back to the suction, either as a differential PSV or a control valve. Not all pumps can slowdown to near zero rpm.

Just make sure you have a
relief valve on the discharge side (ahead of any other valves) set for below the MaxWorkingPressure of the weakest link in the discharge system.
