Many manufacturers post drawings of their products for download in a PDF format.
Is it possible to import a PDF drawing into AutoCAD?

I ask Adobe to save the file as an image file, then import it.

2010 may work but it will set you back $$$$$$$

you shoudl be able to get a PDF in to AutoCAD by doing INSERT>OLE OBJECT and then select PDF and "create from file". one thing to note is once its in, you can rotate it like other objects (you will see what i mean when you try to rotate it!). hope this helps!

My Acad 2010 answer was a little tongue in check.

1. That it has taken Autodesk this long to add such a basic function.
2. We just upgraded to 2007 last year so I won’t see 2010 until 2011 or 12…….

I usually just use the picture tool in Adobe to copy a picture. Then, right-click and paste in ACAD. If you have a dimension, you can scale the picture to get it "to scale". Then, if you need/want it in ACAD format, you just trace it. It is a headache, requires the .pdf picture to be accurate, and even then the ability to accurately trace the lines isn't going to get you an exact match. For creating a picture though, it works.

Export the file as a PNG image. This works especially well for drawings as AutoCAD automatically inverts the colors. This makes it much easier to work with, especially if you want to trace it.

If you are an Autodesk Subscription customer then you can download a bonus pack for AutoCAD 2009 from the subscription center. This will include a number of tools for handling PDF files in AutoCAD.

Also, as has been mentioned AutoCAD 2010 has now been release which includes PDF handling.
