PE in Materials

I'm two years out of school with one year in the metalcasting industry. I'm looking around for next steps professionally. I'm curious how worthwhile a PE in materials is? What kind of doors can it open? What kind of pay increase? How would I find a PE in materials to work under?

Are there any other qualifications worth getting. I'm thinking patent agent. NACE? NDE?

Testing labs often have PEs

For Materials forensics, the minimum is a PE. A PhD is preferred.

A PE in Materials/Metallurgy will allow you to consult as an Engineer. It has been very rewarding for me before and now, after retirement.

ASNT Level III or equivalent (out of USA) certification can be rewarding.

As a non-consultant working directly for an EPC firm, I have only sealed three reports during the past 14 years. I will say that obtaing my P.E. license was strongly recommended by my employer as a sales tool.
