Any body in Canada, who appeal PE licencing process? not satisfied with PE decision, and appeal , what are the chances?

any comment appreciated

There is no such thing as a PE in Canada.

It is called the P.Eng here and basically there is no appeal of the provincial association’s rulings.

I am assuming that you are opposed to a ruling on eligibility for license.

Keep in mind that each association makes its own decisions and a license is quickly and easily transferable from one association to another.

Thats fine, my intention is P Engg, however they asked me to appeal for the decision if not agreed, that itself shows there is option to appeal. I want to know what are the chances to get through by appeal?
I dont understand above para, can you elaborate?

And, in Quebec, Canada, the designation is "ing." from "ingenieurs" (there is an accent missing but I don't know how to insert that).

If they told you that you can appeal then they should be able to tell you the appeal process.

I know of a person who was refused license by one association and then simply applied to another. He was accepted by the second and then transferred his license to the first association.

Once one association accepts you then every other one will automatically accept you under their mobility agreements. It is only an administrative process and you can have the second license very quickly once the first is in place somewhere.


What reason did they give you for the rejection? If your academic credentials are not covered under the Washington Accord then you may have a problem demonstrating proper academic achievement. Sometimes it is easier to take any required courses, simply consider them a refresher and an introduction to Canadian practice.

If the reason was lack of experience then I would think that all associations would have the same problem with your application.

If it was bad references then you will have the same problem everywhere you apply.

I'm not sure what issue you asked for a decision on. That will make a difference.

I appealed a couple minor decisions when I applied to APEGBC won one lost one. If it is for licensure they will assign exams typically and if you feel it was not adequately addressed write a response tell them why, and include any additional information that may not have been included initially.

Send the letter to the group with whom you are dealing with at the Society. I assume it would be the registars. Bear in mind Canada has very strict requirements and procedures. If you blew one or the other it makes a difference. But they are also quite helpful typically to try and work through any licensing problems.

ya, this is regarding license, its been asked to write exam though all criteria is meeting.I asked about fall backs on which they make this decision, am waiting for their responce.

Do not worry the exams aren't that bad (well a couple are).

I know exams will be ok, as average engineer passed this trauma with 10 subjects/year and about 100-200 pages/subject (closed book). But my point is if you see elective subjects, they are no way diffrent than what we already studied.Height is for most of the subjects, I can recommend better books than what they have suggested. now, you can understand my level of frustration!!!

Canada is a bit of an old boys club as far as this goes. If you want to join their club.....

I wrote 12 exams and I feel I was not well assessed. But they would not provide any criteria nor any feedback just "this is it". The majority of the texts I found recommended were good reference, useless to learn or refresh from but good reference. I think I bought 1, never used it, and have since never opened it, as it has no relevance to what I do whatsoever. I found a better text book at the university in Chang Mai while on holidays!

Write a few letters of appeal, give them a ton of information, and then knuckle dow and write exams I'm sorry to say. Also check this link out it is the only one I know of in Canada. It is (was) a well kept secret.

Work on your grammar, punctuation, etc.- not too impressive on your posts. No problem here, but wouldn't look so good on a letter.
