One valve vendor is proposing to use PEEK as the soft seat insert for 15000 psi valves. These are instrumnent double block and bleed valves (DBB), typically DN50 and 80.

If anyone here has experience using soft seats for 15k psi valves, please share.

Service: hydrocarbon NACE.

Yes, PEEK will work in a 15000 psi valve, IF it is configured correctly.

If it is not done right it can fail due to breakage or deformation. Most soft seat material will just squish down, but PEEK can break or dent.

Ok, thanks.

Any examples, projects, valve or elastomer brochures that claims this? If I could find something that will allow me to verify or support the application, that will be great.

You will see that these list PEEK and Acetal Copolymer (Celcon) as soft seat material. Copolymer is restricted by temperature.

Many offshore platforms use them: Shell Mars, Perdido & Magnolia; Murphy Thunderhawk & Peregrino; Chevron Tahiti, Blind Faith, & Agbami; Anadarko Caesar-Tonga; and quite a few more. They are also used for onshore applications.
