I have a Cubic geometry (with random empty spaces inside) and need to do periodic meshing (same mesh on the opposite face pairs). How do I do that in ABAQUS?

Thank you.

can you partition and seed corresponding faces as required?

@Dave442 - All the outer faces are just plain, but inside the box, the geometry is distorted (due to empty spaces).

yeah, so can you not partition and seed the outer faces so that you obtain the same mesh on opposite face pairs?

We can only seed Part and edges, right? Pardon me if I am wrong.

I assume the opposing faces in your part consist of edges that can be seeded as required? The faces can also be partitioned to further control the face mesh.

Also, technically you can assign a seed to a cell or a face, though CAE will just create seeds along edges.

@Dave442 - I have found a new feature in ABAQUS that let user to copy the surface mesh of one face to another face -
Can you please take a look at it? I am having trouble getting it to work. I am getting a message "Failed to merge the copied mesh with meshes on target geometry".

i tried it for a simple cylindrical geometry and it seemed to work fine when i followed the instructions.

only seems to work for shell faces or faces of tet or bottom up regions. Seems like more hassle than manual partion/seed.

@Dave442, You are right, it only works on surface mesh. I have a cubic geometry (solid box), I have read that there is a command in Mesh module to generate only the surface mesh. Can you please let me know how do I create a surface only mesh?

i don't know how you mesh only a face of a 3D part in CAE?

if you just want an identical mesh on corresponding faces you just need to partition/seed the faces. Have you tried that?
