Hi guys,

Does anyone know a method of measuring perlite compaction in an annular space that is under vacuum? Our road tanker fleet experiences perlite settling over time and we top up the perlite periodically but there is a risk of damage to the inner vessel if the perlite is allowed to compact and restrict the inner vessel from moving during thermal cycles. We know how to test the insulation while the vacuum is broken. I was hoping someone might know how we could test for perlite density behind a 1/4" carbon steel outer vessel shell while it still contains a vacuum?
