Which material is an alternative to use in manufacturing a plastic petri dish

Pyrex glass?

Polyethylene or Polypropylene would be reasonably chemically resistant, if not as clear as the pyrex. Acrylic would work pretty well for most aqueous chemistry/biology. Really comes down to what solvents the dish is going to be exposed to in use.
 
Why re-invent the wheel?

Commercial Petri dishes are made from a variety of materials; this supplier lists a number different materials in their offering, aside from glass:
