Looking at PFI ES-7 (Minimum length and spacing for welded branch connections), spacing is not tabulated for branches below 2-1/2". What's the reason for this? Is weld spacing not as important for small bore connections? I can go to B31.3 304.3.3(e), but that appears to be a section for reinforcing a fitting; we are trying to use integrally reinforced fittings. Does 304.3.3(e) also apply to integrally reinforced fittings?

Unless I'm reading it wrong and they are saying 2" through 1/2", which seems backwards lol

We are trying to have 3 successive 3/4" valves on a short spool piece for some pressure instrumentation. Space is limited. We have other options too, I was just curious about why PFI ES-7 seems to stop at 2-1/2".

Don't know about the PFI document.

From there though it looks like they uses the reinforcement zone from B 31.3.

The gap appears to be a min of the ID of the fixture.
