looking for some direction ,I looked through ASME VIII which refers to ASME V for ultrasonic examination techniques for inspection of Viii vessels ,I keep hearing that Section VIII requires Phased array inspection methods I cant find any reference to this in Section V. Most of our clients want RT but we're exploring UT methods for vessel repair project. Phased array units are $$$$$ versus the pulsed echo units anyone know where this Phased array requirement came from other than the companies that sell phased array units

You say you're exploring UT methods for repairs. I assume you mean repairs to new vessels per ASME VIII, Div 1 Part UW-51 (b). Is that correct?

Under ASME VIII, you must have a UT system that stores data which can then be reviewed by the AI.
