The tried and true phasing method of lifting the shutters and comparing bus vs gen leads has management a bit concerned.

I do not like the idea of checking the LV side of VT's, due to many levels of variables that get introduced.

Is there a device that can bolt-on (?) to bus and gen leads, which would allow for re-energization and enable the results to be read from a distance (either wireless or long cord)??? I would have to think in today's safety conscious world, that a piece of test equipment has been developed for this exact scenario.

Thanks,
Matt

What is wrong with proving the VTs using a low voltage source on the primary, then trusting them once proven?

[ol 1]
[li]With the breaker closed so both sides positively see the same primary conditions, prove the VTs agree[/li]
[li]Deliberately make one side 'wrong' and verify the VT's match the change made[/li]
[li]Put the VTs back and re-verify as per step 1[/li]
[/ol]

No one 'lifts the shutters' in transmission substations. The solutions which work in that environment work at MV too. ;-)
